Sharing the illustrious achievements made by Lovely Professional University within a very small span, LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal invoked all at LPU to continue working hard.  Quoting great poet Robert Frost & great companies of the yester years Mr Mittal said: “It was never thought that a university in Jalandhar can grow to national stature but we proved everybody wrong. LPU has great potential to be a legendary university in the world. Although LPU has achieved a lot, yet the present time is to take next bigger leap and we can’t relax or rest. We have to strive together and should plan and take advancement in our own individual areas.  Collectively it will result into a giant leap towards our aim to get LPU included among top 200 universities of the world by the year 2025.” Considering and appreciating the great team work done by staff members, Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal credited these achievements into the accounts of each and every staff member of the university. The occasion was the conclusive day of 13th annual conference ‘Share the Vision-2014’ organized at newly constructed spacious Smt Shanti Devi Mittal Auditorium LPU Campus.

Sharing unprecedented rate of LPU growth since its inception, Chancellor Miittal made all to remember the mammoth increase in campus & size; placement in 5 companies of Fortune 500 to 300 super global and national brands; students & staff members from limited states & countries to presently from 29 states of India & 30 countries; from 4 study programs to 200+ programs; from 300 students to 30,000 students; and many other such growth indicating achievements.  Visits of important international, national figures and celebrities including South Carolina Governor Ms Nikki Haley, President of India, bollywood actors Shahrukh Khan, Deepika Padukone were also shared.  Important ranking made by ABCSP for LPU Business School; international conferences; staff-members & students achievements including Dada Saheb Phalke Award, President Award, Participation at Auto Expo 2014 and many more were also shared.

All other senior officials, heads, faculty and staff members also assured unanimously to take the university further to sky soaring heights.  Some shared to take LPU to that place where research works, publications, placements, international exposures and more will be in abundance. During the conference more than 360 LPU employees were honoured with 10 & 5 years' “Association Awards” in recognition of their long association with LPU. 28 staff members shared the honour for their 10 years’ long association and 332 for 5 years. The mammoth ‘Conference’ communicated the mission of the university for the forthcoming years. Various cultural & sports events, fashion show, exchange of ideas were also organized to bring out the talent of the staff members.

 Department of Fine Arts at Lovely Professional University organized its annual art exhibition ‘Creative Contour-2014’. This art exhibition showcased over 1000 artworks imagined, designed and created by the university students.  These  creations were  in different fields of the art forms including wood carvings, charcoal drawings, sculpting, fabric painting, sketching,   graphic designs, paper-machie works, wastage turned into the best, clay-modelling, floor-painting and more. This year, the most applauded works remained expressive faces carved out of wood; advertisement for social networking; and, book illustrations. Going deep in between the colours, curves of the message oriented art works, students proved themselves as proven author, artist, photographer, sculptor, and graphic designer.  It was an open exhibition where even students from the departments of technology, sciences, pharmacy and other also participated.

President of India conferred prestigious IG NSS Award on LPU Student in Rashtrapati Bhawan

Hon’ble President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee conferred prestigious Indira Gandhi National Service Scheme (NSS) Award on an LPU Civil Engineering final year student Debanshu Chauhan.  LPU NSS Volunteer has been selected from more than 32 Lac NSS student volunteers of 298 Universities, 42 other School Councils and Vocational Institutions of the country.  Debanshu has been successful in completing 240 hours service to the society under diverse projects within two years passionately and devotedly. The award for the year 2013-14 was conferred on Debanshu at a function held at the Darbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhawan New Delhi. This NSS volunteers’ category award carried a cash award of Rs 15,000, certificate and a silver medal for Debanshu.

First- Phase of India’s Largest Private Entrance Test ‘LPU NEST’- 2015 commenced at LPU Campus

The first- phase of India’s largest private entrance test LPU National Eligibility & Scholarship Test (LPU NEST)-2015 commenced at LPU Campus today. Considered as the overall 5th largest entrance test in the government (Centre & State) as well as private sectors, the three-day phase of the test will last up to 22nd November 2014. More than 20,000 school students are appearing for the coveted test, and also participating in numerous events to explore in their talents under ‘Explorica’ program. In the next two phases of ‘LPU NEST- 2015’many Lac students are expected to appear. These phases will be on the school campuses and through online mode. The deserving students will also be awarded with scholarship up to Rs 5 Lakh per student. The participating students, teachers and schools in the events of ‘Explorica’ will also be awarded with prizes and certificates.

The captivated crowd was seen swooning and enjoying the performance on popular tracks from Coke Studio such as ‘Dum Dum Andar’ and ‘Kattey’. With the impeccable musical renditions by the celebrated musician, Coke Studio beautifully echoed the spirit of the LPU Youth Vibe 2014 – a confluence of musical talents much as this festival (Youth Vibe 2014) itself is a confluence of diverse talent across the country.

Three-day Punjab School Education Board’s Zonal level co-curricular competitions concluded at LPU


Lovely Professional University had been hosting three-day Punjab School Education Board’s Zonal level co-curricular competitions since 11th November 2014. These competitions concluded at the campus today. Board’s competitions were held for 18 events including those for Shabd Gayan, Lok-Naach, War Gayan, Malwai Gidha, Kavishari, Gatka and more.  For these, about 3000 school students from more than 200 schools of the zone competed at different stages of LPU.

Indian Rock Show Competitions Marked the 3rd day of LPU Global Open Fest-Youth Vibe-2014

One of the biggest Indian rock show competitions “Armageddon” dominated the 3rd day of ongoing LPU Global Open Fest-Youth Vibe-2014. With originality of music, strong bands and the spirit of rock n roll, the day proved a comprehensive entity in profound melodies.  25 teams, from all across India and other countries, competed with each other carrying different themes.  With this competition, LPU proved itself as one of the largest platform for the young creators of music in India.  Beginning of Model Hunt for direct entry to final round of Miss India 2015 in Mumbai was another attraction of the day. In addition, 50 more competitions including Indian Folk Dances, Mr & Ms Youth Vibe, Bolly-wood Style Dancing, Quiz, Robo Football Mania, Case Development and more added required spirit to the fest. LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal inaugurated Fest Carnival today at the campus.  Carnival showcased more than 100 stalls and kiosks to cater to varied interests of the students. The most attractive part of the carnival remained 200 feet-long displays of waste products. Through 300 illustrating models, decorative pieces, furniture objects and more; these students taught onlookers about waste management. In the evening, India’s Got Talent Winner Liza Malik & international dance groups enthralled students of LPU & 60 other institutions.

CRPF-Family Welfare Association (CWA) signed an MoU with LPU

CWA, an organization working for welfare of wards, widows, NOKs (Next of Kin) & personnel with disabilities of Central Reserve Police Force, has signed an MoU with Lovely Professional University.  After mutual discussions with LPU, CRPF-CWA expressed its interest to get some courses designed for CRPF personnel and their family-members. On attaining mutual understanding an MoU was signed between the two which seeks LPU to deliver special courses, and also to provide assistance in skill enhancement of CRPF members. CWA President Smt Suneeta Trivedi, Project Co-ordinator Group Center Jalandhar Smt. Sunita Thorpe, and LPU Pro Chancellor Mrs. Rashmi Mittal, Director General Er. HR Singla have signed for both the sides. The MoU was signed during celebration of Diamond Jubilee Year of CRPF in New Delhi, which was presided over by Union HRD Minister Smt Smriti Irani.

LPU School of Architecture & Design inaugurated its first 3-day international conference NICHE (Neo- International Conference of Habitable Environments)-2014 today. Organizing in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA)- a national body of architects in the country, it is first of its kind in the Punjab state.  The conference is to deal with aspects of architecture, planning & design. International speakers & audience from Iran, Algeria, Mauritius, Turkey and other countries are to attend the conference on different  days. The aim of the conference is to deal with both external (planning & architecture) and internal (interior and design) architectural aspects. Chairman IIA Publication Board Mr. Surinder Bagha, Vice-President IIA Ms. Divya Khush, LPU Chancellor Mr. Ashok Mittal and Ar. Namita Singh inaugurated the conference by lighting of the lamp.

Rani Breast Cancer Trust (RBCT) motivated LPU Students to stand against fast spreading Breast Cancer

The RBCT Chandigarh Managing Trustee Bittu Safeena Sandhu inspired LPU students to take strides against breast cancer. Sharing experiences and best practices in preventing, diagnosing and treating breast cancer, committed social worker & motivational speaker Mrs Sandhu explained all about fast spreading dangerous disease. She talked about alarming facts, risk factors, statistics, and symptoms in simple manner through presentation, along with short documentaries. She also awakened students about the easy remedy and control of breast cancer.

LPU & SPS Apollo Hospitals organised fourth Nursing Conference

  • Conference was aimed to educate nursing students of the state on ‘Emergency and Resuscitation’

In order to educate the nursing students of the state about management of emergency and resuscitation cases, LPU School of Pharmaceutical Sciences & SPS Apollo Hospitals organised 4th Nursing conference at LPU campus. Near 500 nursing students, doctors, nurses, paramedics of the state participated in the conference. Important lectures  on ‘Conduction System Anatomy’; ‘Cardiac Rhythm Disturbances’, ‘ECG Basics’, ‘Chain of Survival’ , ‘Basic Life Support’ and more were delivered by senior emergency care practitioners. Experts in the fields of cardiology, resuscitation, emergency and intensive care; Dr. Vikas Bansal, Dr. Anupam Srivastva, Dr. Kanwalpreet Sodhee, Dr. Colonel Neera from SPS Apollo Hospitals educated would- be- nurses for their required role.

Cricketer turned singer Sandhu enthralled LPU Students with his singing art.  The star presented his biggest song of 2014 "JOKER", for which music is composed by B Praak and lyrics are written by Jaani.  He not only sang many other songs from his famous albums including ‘Soch’ but also interacted with LPU students from the schools of Performing Arts, Film Production & Journalism. Students asked about his life, future plans, and tips about singing, performances, production etc. Students also sang and danced along with him on his famous rhythmic songs. In fact, his songs are solid mix of contemporary music and upbeat songs. He is sure that his new album is going to be different to attract all kinds of music lovers. 

LPU Volunteer Students & Staff-members donated record 965 Blood Units

LPU Students & Staff-members showed great interest in this humane endeavour and donated 965 Blood Units voluntarily to save 2895 lives. Different teams of doctors and paramedical staff members from blood transfusion offices of 3 Civil Hospitals (Jalandhar, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur) & PIMS (Jalandhar) provided all the support for the blood donation activities. 

Bollywood star cast ‘Roar- Tigers of the Sundarbans’ visited LPU

Punjabi vegetarian Body Builder Varinder Singh Ghuman along Aadil Chahal, Abhinav Shukla, Nora Fatehi and others visited LPU for the promotion of their upcoming hindi movie Roar- Tigers of the Sundarbans. Starcast not only entertained LPU students through live musical concert but also danced with the students. University students of Schools of Fashion Technology and Journalism & Film Production interacted with them specially to know their views on costume and the camera angles used in the film. Actors spent more than one hour at the campus, and also mesmerised many thousands of students through their scintillating performances. Star cast lively performances made students to continue clapping and singing along with them.

LPU Scientists developed Herbal-Formula for treatment of Diabetes

•    This oral intake will benefit those who cannot afford regular& costly Insulin injections

A group of scientists from the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Lovely Professional University have developed herbal formula for treatment of diabetes. This formula, in the form of polypeptide-k, is to work like insulin but will be taken orally instead of being injected. For the last five years there has been a regular search for this herbal preparation for easy and cheap treatment of Diabetes.  In near future, patients suffering from diabetes mellitus (both Type I and Type II) will get an alternative for insulin prepared with the efforts of LPU Scientists. Now the formulation is ready for its safety and efficacy evaluation. On successful outcomes, the treatment is anticipated to bring a revolutionary change in the present day anti-diabetic course of therapy.

Yes, you will when you hear about the unlimited humane endeavours of Ganesh Saki, who is an MBA International Business Program student at Lovely Professional University student. India Book of Records has acknowledged his social feel when he organized 12 social awareness events in a single day in his home town-Maadanapalle, Chittor (Andhra Pradesh). Studying under university scholarship scheme-LPU TFA, Ganesh is also good at studies with good grades in his hitherto semesters. Ganesh got his name registered in India Book of Records for his social awakening project. Twelve events of Ganesh’s project aimed at addressing 12 different areas of social life thus making thousands of people awakened and socially responsible. These events included awareness for eyes donation, road safety, blood donation, plantation, self-defense for girls, clothes distribution to orphans, note-books giving out to poor school children, sports, how to help needy ones, dance show, traditional dance-Kolatam, and a play against drugs/drinking. Congratulating the socially awakened Ganesh, LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal said: “I feel proud and happy on seeing the remarkable achievements of the students like Ganesh. Our aim is to make students not only professional global citizens but also to bring forth people who can contribute to the society.”

LPU Physical Education Student represented India in Handball Women Team at Incheon, South Korea

  It is very heartening and motivating news for all sports-women of the Punjab state that a Ph D student of Lovely Professional University-Gurpreet Kaur represented Indian Handball Team at the 17th Asian Games.  Her selection among 679-Member Indian Contingent is being measured in much importance as Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself took keen interest in finalizing the contingent, when Sports Ministry sought his consultation. Different sports competitions are being held at Incheon South Korea, which will draw to a close on 4th October 2014. Asian Games participation is of massive dimensions for a sports person as this is a big step to be further listed for Olympic Games.

Thrilled over her selection, Gurpreet Kaur is elated on being a great part of the contingent in spite of she lost her father lately. Gurpreet exclaims: “It was really a very exciting moment when I got included in the national squad for Asian Games. Punjab had been lagging in handball; however, I was mentored well at my university to get a coveted opportunity from the state for making it to the national squad.  At present I am sad that I and my team members could not make it possible to see our team on the victory podium. I will keep on practicing hard to represent Indian team again to surely see our national anthem echoing and tricolor waving inside an international Stadium.”

The School of Hotel Management & Tourism of Lovely Professional University welcomed Michelin-Starred International Chef Vikas Khanna. Michelin Award is an OSCAR award in the realms of international cooking scenario. Chef Khanna inaugurated first season of Uni Chef Cookery-Show at the school under tagline “Your Kitchen, Your Recipes.” This cookery show is to cover ten seasons in a month this year 2014, and is devised by University Network -‘YTV’. The first season saw recipe for “Italian Cone Pasta Chaat” prepared by an M Sc student of the Hotel Management School, Anish Diwikar. Nine more Chef-students of the school will be the hosts for next nine seasons with separate recipes. All episodes will also be telecasted on YTV of the university to be accessed on internet anywhere in the campus.  On this occasion, Chef Khanna also unveiled his book ‘Amritsar-Flavours of the Golden-City’.

LPU sent 3 Truck loads of Relief Material to J&K

Sensing worsened flood situation in Jammu & Kashmir, Lovely Professional University has sent three truckloads of relief material to the state in the initial stage. LPU students and staff members collected tons of direly needed things under “Joy of Giving” initiation for agonized J&K people. Different LPU student groups have stood up for the humane cause and are co-operating to send three more truck-loads tomorrow. After having discussions with many students groups and foundations, LPU NSS volunteers are working day & night to collect more truckloads of relief material. Sent relief-material includes dry ration (biscuits, breads), bed-sheets, basic medicines, disinfectants, first-aid kits, blankets, mattresses, woolens and bottled water.

BSF Women Constables inspired thousands of LPU Girl Students through live Drills & Demos

May it be scorching Thar deserts, height of the Himalayas, marshy Sunderbans, never ending Rann of Kutch or the malaria prone hostile terrain of the North East; the first line of defense of India-Border Security Force (BSF) is always there to guard us. This all was marvellously exhibited at Lovely Professional University campus today by the officers, men and women constables of BSF. Thousands of students at the university availed the opportunity to observe closely latest weapons and the way they are used in border protection. This one-day exhibition displayed various types of guns, rifles, mortars, shells, their handling- operation and a photo gallery related to different BSF operations. BSF women constables inspired thousands of LPU girl-students through live demos in handling, assembling, loading rifles, light machine guns, being even blind folded, in a few seconds.

Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) Scheme of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, has been gaining great response in the Punjab state. Thousands of students from Punjab state have already enrolled themselves for LPU Distance Education (DE) Programs for both undergraduate and post graduate programs and have availed PMS scheme. With the Punjab Government’s extension of the last date to 15th September 2014 to avail PMS scheme, quite a large number of applications are still being received at the university.  It was indeed a moment of great pride for one of the Lovely Professional University B Tech CSE students Avinash Mishra when he met and conversed with Google-founder  & CEO Larry Page in San Francisco (USA). Google had selected LPU student to represent India for its annual Google sponsored global technology conference in USA. It was a rare chance for him as only three students of India were selected to participate in Google I/O conference. Mishra was lucky to be noticed by Larry Page himself while Mishra was discussing on a latest Google oriented project amid representative students of other nations.  Page's personal wealth is estimated to be US$32.3 billion, ranking him number 19 on the Forbes list of billionaires.

Auto leader Maruti Suzuki India Ltd and Lovely Professional University have signed an MoU, today at LPU Campus, to start an intensive training certificate program. This high impact-skill up training certification will be of 3 months duration for diploma/ITI Professionals. The program of skill enhancement & vocational augmentation-‘LPU SEVA’ will groom students into prospective techno commercial professionals. Training contents and methodology has been designed by Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL). The first batch of 30 trainees will commence from 27th October 2014.  Academic training will be provided by eminent faculty at LPU campus; whereas, practical Internship will be at Maruti workshops, including workshop at Lovely Autos. On this occasion LPU Executive Dean Dr. Lovi Raj Gupta, Registrar Dr. Monica Gulati and Lovely Autos Director Mr. Amit Mittal were also present.

LPU organised alarming ‘Walk’ against Drug-abuse



Jalandhar: Being alert on the unwanted consumption of drugs and other intoxicants among youth of the state, Lovely Professional University rose to its Corporate Social Responsibility and organised an alarming ‘Walk against Drug-abuse’. Hundreds of LPU students actively participated in the 5 kilo meter long in campus walk rally. Carrying placards & banners with slogans describing the ills of the drugs, students awakened all onlookers to say complete no to drugs. Most of the students were also having their faces painted depicting the havoc could be caused through drug-usage.  On this occasion, a Drug abuse Eradication program-  ‘Bodh’ was also organized under the banner of multi-faceted socio-spiritual organization ’Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan’. 

Eighty-Day long Open Intra-University Competition ‘Magnitude’ inaugurated at LPU

Jalandhar:  Creating the biggest competitive platform for talented students of the university, Lovely Professional University has endeavoured to organize 80-day long Open Intra-University Competition ‘Magnitude’. After magnanimous inauguration, competitions in different fields will continue up to the mid of November 2014. The event is proving to be a unified annual property of the university with more than 200 competitions in cultural, technical, literary and allied activities. Near 5000 national & international students from different departments of the university will participate in different competitions. Jalandhar: Bollywood film production company- ‘UVI Filmz’ is holding three-day auditions at Lovely Professional University to select lead and supporting female-actors for a forthcoming film.  Specially organised for LPU girl- students, the auditions will continue upto 1st September 2014 seeing the heavy registrations. Near 1500 girl-students from all streams have registered to show their talent for selection. Director Saket Behl, Producer Sanyukta Ghosh, Story writer Yash Kapoor & Screenplay writer Sanjeev Vig are at LPU campus to select extra-ordinary students.  Vipul Roy & Harish Verma are the lead stars of the film which is expected to premier this year only. During first round, 40 students have been short-listed for final selection of 12 students through two more rounds. LPU students from School of Journalism & Film Production are co-ordinating with audition- team for selection process.
