LPU advocated Total Reduction in Tobacco Consumption

*Organised ‘World No Tobacco Day’ on district level

Highlighting the health risks associated with tobacco use, World Health Organisation marks World No Tobacco Day every year.   LPU also supported this humane cause and organised district level seminar to advocate total reduction in tobacco consumption. Various ill-effects of tobacco usage were also highlighted. The theme of WHO this year was to make a call on all countries to raise taxes on tobacco products. Civil Surgeon Kapurthala Dr Rajesh Kapila & NCC Wing Commanding Officer Jarnail Singh supported the organization; whereas, LPU Director General Er HR Singla presided over. Er Singla was hard enough on tobacco users and wanted that such persons should not be allowed to work or study, at least, in the educational institutions. CO Jarnail Singh informed about the dangerous diseases as an outcome of tobacco using, and Dr Kapila informed about the large-scaled destructive nature of tobacco. All present on the occasion vowed to say complete no to tobacco.
