LPU hosting ten-day Annual Training Camp of NCC

  • Collective training camp will make cadets eligible for prestigious NCC certificates ‘A’,  ‘B’ and ‘C’ Examination
  • 500+ NCC cadets from 28 schools and colleges are attending the training camp

Jalandhar:  In order to impart collective training to all NCC cadets of its battalion, the 8 Punjab battalion is conducting ten-day annual training camp (ATC) at Lovely Professional University campus. More than 500 Senior-Junior Division (SD/JD) & Senior-Junior Wing (SW/JW) NCC cadets from 28 schools and colleges are attending the training camp. Visualizing the mammoth design of the camp, the battalion preferred LPU for its vast infrastructure and support to have high-end conduction of the camp. Under the training, NCC cadets are presently going through various physical and mental exercises. The training is mainly for different soldier-skills including hard drill, marching, map reading, rifle operating, setting-up ambush, emergency duties. In addition, cadets are being prepared to be good citizens through social activities of awareness and awakening, including blood donation, national integration, rural- development projects like MNREGA, environment protection and many more. The camp is going to conclude on 2nd August 2014.

 Jalandhar:  LPU School of Hotel Management & Tourism hosted first Round Table Conference ‘Chefs Connect2014’ of Indian Culinary Forum. The Punjab & Chandigarh Chapter of the Forum organised this conference with an aim to empower aspiring chefs with quality culinary education. Twelve chefs from various universities and hotel management institutes of Punjab & Chandigarh participated for vital discussions. Key speaker at the conference was Chef Parvinder S Bali-Program Director at Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development (Oberoi Group of Hotels & Resorts).

Professor from USA propagated “Green Chemistry” at LPU during 3 day faculty development session

* Occasion was 3-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on ‘A Better Living through Green Chemistry’ in the Sciences department of the University
 Jalandhar: India is not only among the fastest growing economies but the second largest producer of pesticides, and one of the emerging markets for pharmaceuticals and petrochemicals also. These growing industries have often led to environmental problems. Keeping in view that the environmental education and practice keep pace with this growth, LPU department of Chemistry organized a three-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on ‘A Better Living through Green Chemistry’.  Professor of Chemistry at Illinois-Wesleyan University (IWU) in the USA, Dr Ram Mohan discussed various aspects of green chemistry during different sessions held at the university on all the days.

Ericsson selected 42 LPU students as Telecom Support Engineers

 Jalandhar:  Ericsson India Global Services has selected 42 students of Lovely Professional University for its Gurgaon and Noida offices. Selected as Telecom Support Engineers, the successful students belonged to B Tech ECE, CSE & IT programs of 2014 passing out batch.   After the meticulous conduction of placement drive at university campus in the July 2014 only, students are presently working with Ericsson- the world leader in the 2G, 3G, 4G mobile network infrastructure market.

LPU Distance Education students visited university campus: Interacted with university officials

Jalandhar: More than 100 students from Moga and Baghapurana, studying in various Distance Education programs of Lovely Professional University, visited the university campus and interacted with university officials. The initiative by the university is one of its own kinds as it gives opportunity to DE students to have a first-hand experience of vibrant campus life of India's largest university. While their interaction with university officials, students were made aware about the various privileges LPU DE students are entitled to. LPU Pharmacy student presented research paper at International Conference in Canada

  • Topic of presentation was “Exaggerated Expiry Dates of Pharmaceuticals Enhancing Economic Burden on Health care system of a country”
 Jalandhar: An M Pharmacy student of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Lovely Professional University, Nitika Kaushal presented a research poster in Montreal, Canada, at 19th annual International meeting of International Society of Pharmacoeconomics and Research (ISPOR). Nitika was specially invited by ISPOR to elaborate her research on “Exaggerated Expiration Dates of Pharmaceuticals Enhancing Economic Burden on Health care system of a country”. This research focuses on the unnecessary discarding of the drugs which usually remain safe and useful. Nitika proved that a large number of completely potent drugs are discarded because of the early expiry dates on the labels, thus incurring huge wastage of national resources. Nitika’s research was highly appreciated by the experts who are working in the area of health care economics. In fact, ISPOR invites experts from different countries during their annual meeting to explore their ideas for the global health care of community.

Jalandhar: In recognition of outstanding work done in the field of Neuro-Pharmacology, a faculty at LPU School of Pharmaceutical Sciences Dr Navneet Khurana is honoured with prestigious ‘Jewel of India’ award. Former Governor of Tamil Nadu, Dr Bhisham Narayan Singh bestowed the honour at an annual award function of Indian Solidarity Council (ISC) in New Delhi. The Council is a national body and comprises eminent social leaders, bureaucrats and entrepreneurs.  This function was organised in collaboration with International Institute of Education & Management and International Business Council. The award was given in the presence of former Chief Justice of Kerala High Court and Governor of Punjab Justice OP Verma, former Chief Election Commissioner of India Mr Krishnamurthy and former CBI Director S Joginder Singh.

LPU School of Business organised National Case-writing Workshop

 Jalandhar: Aiming to expand the pool of case studies on Indian organizations, the School of Business of Lovely Professional University organized 3-day National Case-writing workshop for faculty & research scholars. 34 research scholars of top B-Schools & Universities from all across India participated in the workshop. Seven cases were written on top companies including Hero Cycles, Neva Garments, Overseas Healthcare, Vetsfarma, Action Batteries, Bonn and Mind Plus. After recent accreditation of LPU B-School by ACBSP (Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs) USA, organization of this national workshop is of much importance for LPU to take a lead to become global B-School. The workshop covered various elements including identification & approach to case sites (companies), case issue selection, preparation of teaching notes, delivery, and evaluation as applicable to the case.

LPU MBA got prestigious ACBSP USA certification

Jalandhar: Board of Commissioners of Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), USA, has awarded Lovely Professional University with prestigious accreditation of its business programs. ACBSP is a world renowned organisation to offer specialised business accreditation in selected & top countries including USA, UK, Spain and some others. In India less than five B-schools have been accredited by ACBSP. Such an accreditation certifies that the teaching and learning processes at LPU meet the rigorous educational standards established by ACBSP.
