Jalandhar: Aiming to expand the pool of case studies on Indian organizations, the School of Business of Lovely Professional University organized 3-day National Case-writing workshop for faculty & research scholars. 34 research scholars of top B-Schools & Universities from all across India participated in the workshop. Seven cases were written on top companies including Hero Cycles, Neva Garments, Overseas Healthcare, Vetsfarma, Action Batteries, Bonn and Mind Plus. After recent accreditation of LPU B-School by ACBSP (Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs) USA, organization of this national workshop is of much importance for LPU to take a lead to become global B-School. The workshop covered various elements including identification & approach to case sites (companies), case issue selection, preparation of teaching notes, delivery, and evaluation as applicable to the case.
Congratulating the participants LPU Director General Er HR Singla informed: “On realizing that more cases are to be written & studied in Indian context, we held this workshop to train high-potential faculty & research scholars on the case writing process. This endeavour of our B School was also to develop a case teaching culture in Indian management schools.”
Illustrative, on the first day of the workshop all participants visited the case sites (companies) in group of five each to collect data. There they interacted with the company officials. Day two and three were assigned for understanding the technicalities of case-writing & development. The breadth of experience within the workshop, the variety of teaching styles, and the approaches presented by the instructor created a rich collaborative learning experience for all the scholar-participants.
The participating institutions included University of Jammu; Eastern Institute for Integrated Learning in Management (EIILM), Kolkata; PCTE Ludhiana; Apeejay Institute of Management; Khalsa College Amritsar and many other.
