Lovely Professional University in collaboration with The Indian Institute of Architects is organising the first International Conference in the state of Punjab titled “Neo-International Conference on Habitable Environments” NICHE-2014 from 31st Oct. to 2nd Nov, 2014 dealing with Architecture, Planning and Design. The Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) is the national body of Architects in the country. The conference will draw upon National and International professionals, academicians, developers, contractors, builders, environmentalists, students and policy makers from all related fields. The keynote speakers for the conference will be Ar. Krishnarao Jaisim from Jaisim-Fountain Head, Bengaluru, Ar. Anil Laul CEO & Principal Architect from Anangpur Building Centre, Faridabad, Ar. Namita Singh from Satnam Namita & Associates, Dr. Mustafa VAR from Karadeniz Technical University Turkey, Dr Hassib Rehailia from Badji Mokhtar University, Algeria, Dr. Khosro Afzali from Azad University, Iran and Y. Baguant-Moonshiram from Mauritius.

Lovely Professional University welcomed Mr Mahesh Munjal-the Chairman & Managing Director of Majestic Auto Ltd (a Hero Group Company) at its campus today. One of the strong business tycoons of India, Mr Munjal mentored LPU students for brilliant professional career. Occasion was an exclusive mentoring opportunity for the university students through CEO Mentors’ Program organised by LPU School of Business. More than 2500 students of MBA and other streams attended the session for personal growth under the suggestions and advices of great capitalist of the country.

LPU & IIT-Kharagpur organized Entrepreneurship Awareness Drive (EAD) at LPU Campus

In order to promote the spirit of entrepreneurship among students, Lovely Professional University & IIT-Kharagpur organized Entrepreneurship Awareness Drive (EAD) at LPU campus today.  Worthy guest-speakers of the day, US Wharton School alumnus Mr Ajay Chaturvedi, Chairman at Yi -Part of CII Mr Jaiprakash Hasrajani, and Cyber Security Expert Mr Ravdeep Sodhi guided LPU students under a series of guest lectures.  Officials from world's most forward-looking company-IBM also mentored LPU students through workshop on how to convert their ideas into softwares using IBM platform. The event was declared open for more than 2500 students of the university in a traditional way with lighting of the lamp. In his inspiring message, LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal invoked students in a key-liner to “be job-providers instead of being job-seekers”.

Cricketer turned Singer Hardy Sandhu enthralled LPU Students

Famous Punjabi singer Hardy Sandhu reached Lovely Professional University campus today. Cricketer turned singer Sandhu enthralled LPU Students with his singing art.  The star presented his biggest song of 2014 "JOKER", for which music is composed by B Praak and lyrics are written by Jaani.  He not only sang many other songs from his famous albums including ‘Soch’ but also interacted with LPU students from the schools of Performing Arts, Film Production & Journalism. Students asked about his life, future plans, and tips about singing, performances, production etc. Students also sang and danced along with him on his famous rhythmic songs. In fact, his songs are solid mix of contemporary music and upbeat songs. He is sure that his new album is going to be different to attract all kinds of music lovers. 

LPU Volunteer Students & Staff-members donated record 965 Blood Units

Following human interests and Corporate Social Responsibility, Lovely Professional University organized Blood Donation camp at its university campus. The camp was organized under university banner- ‘Samarpan -a Lifeline’ in association with Hindustan Welfare Blood Donor Club Phagwara. LPU Students & Staff-members showed great interest in this humane endeavour and donated 965 Blood Units voluntarily to save 2895 lives. Different teams of doctors and paramedical staff members from blood transfusion offices of 3 Civil Hospitals (Jalandhar, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur) & PIMS (Jalandhar) provided all the support for the blood donation activities. 

Bollywood star cast ‘Roar- Tigers of the Sundarbans’ visited LPU

Punjabi vegetarian Body Builder Varinder Singh Ghuman along Aadil Chahal, Abhinav Shukla, Nora Fatehi and others visited LPU for the promotion of their upcoming hindi movie Roar- Tigers of the Sundarbans. Starcast not only entertained LPU students through live musical concert but also danced with the students. University students of Schools of Fashion Technology and Journalism & Film Production interacted with them specially to know their views on costume and the camera angles used in the film. Actors spent more than one hour at the campus, and also mesmerised many thousands of students through their scintillating performances. Star cast lively performances made students to continue clapping and singing along with them.

LPU Scientists developed Herbal-Formula for treatment of Diabetes

•    This oral intake will benefit those who cannot afford regular& costly Insulin injections
•    Treatment from formulation will bring remarkable change in present day anti-diabetic treatment

A group of scientists from the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Lovely Professional University have developed herbal formula for treatment of diabetes. This formula, in the form of polypeptide-k, is to work like insulin but will be taken orally instead of being injected. For the last five years there has been a regular search for this herbal preparation for easy and cheap treatment of Diabetes.  In near future, patients suffering from diabetes mellitus (both Type I and Type II) will get an alternative for insulin prepared with the efforts of LPU Scientists. Now the formulation is ready for its safety and efficacy evaluation. On successful outcomes, the treatment is anticipated to bring a revolutionary change in the present day anti-diabetic course of therapy.

Yes, you will when you hear about the unlimited humane endeavours of Ganesh Saki, who is an MBA International Business Program student at Lovely Professional University student. India Book of Records has acknowledged his social feel when he organized 12 social awareness events in a single day in his home town-Maadanapalle, Chittor (Andhra Pradesh). Studying under university scholarship scheme-LPU TFA, Ganesh is also good at studies with good grades in his hitherto semesters. Ganesh got his name registered in India Book of Records for his social awakening project. Twelve events of Ganesh’s project aimed at addressing 12 different areas of social life thus making thousands of people awakened and socially responsible. These events included awareness for eyes donation, road safety, blood donation, plantation, self-defense for girls, clothes distribution to orphans, note-books giving out to poor school children, sports, how to help needy ones, dance show, traditional dance-Kolatam, and a play against drugs/drinking. Congratulating the socially awakened Ganesh, LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal said: “I feel proud and happy on seeing the remarkable achievements of the students like Ganesh. Our aim is to make students not only professional global citizens but also to bring forth people who can contribute to the society.”

LPU Physical Education Student represented India in Handball Women Team at Incheon, South Korea

  • Was selected one among 679-Member Indian Contingent for 17th Asian Games
  It is very heartening and motivating news for all sports-women of the Punjab state that a Ph D student of Lovely Professional University-Gurpreet Kaur represented Indian Handball Team at the 17th Asian Games.  Her selection among 679-Member Indian Contingent is being measured in much importance as Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself took keen interest in finalizing the contingent, when Sports Ministry sought his consultation. Different sports competitions are being held at Incheon South Korea, which will draw to a close on 4th October 2014. Asian Games participation is of massive dimensions for a sports person as this is a big step to be further listed for Olympic Games.

Thrilled over her selection, Gurpreet Kaur is elated on being a great part of the contingent in spite of she lost her father lately. Gurpreet exclaims: “It was really a very exciting moment when I got included in the national squad for Asian Games. Punjab had been lagging in handball; however, I was mentored well at my university to get a coveted opportunity from the state for making it to the national squad.  At present I am sad that I and my team members could not make it possible to see our team on the victory podium. I will keep on practicing hard to represent Indian team again to surely see our national anthem echoing and tricolor waving inside an international Stadium.”

Cabinet Minister General (Retd) VK Singh invoked LPU Students to come together to develop India

Recipient of Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM), Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) & Yudh Seva Medal (YSM; Cabinet Minister General (Retd.) Vijay Kumar Singh visited Lovely Professional University today. Inaugurating the Master Lecture Series for students, Minister Singh invoked LPU students during ‘Seminar on Role of Youth in Nation Development’ to bring a remarkable change in the society to take India to greater heights. Minister interacted with students and discussed various roles youth ought to play for the propagation and development of the country. From an Army officer to being a politician-Minister of State for External Affairs and Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region, the former army chief guided students to contribute in developing the country. MLA Phagwara constituency Mr Som Parkash, former MLA Batala Mr Jagdish Sahni, Chairman of Lovely Group Mr Ramesh Mittal, Vice Chairman Mr Naresh Mittal, and Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal were other dignitaries present on the occasion.
