Hon’ble President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee conferred prestigious Indira Gandhi National Service Scheme (NSS) Award on an LPU Civil Engineering final year student Debanshu Chauhan.  LPU NSS Volunteer has been selected from more than 32 Lac NSS student volunteers of 298 Universities, 42 other School Councils and Vocational Institutions of the country.  Debanshu has been successful in completing 240 hours service to the society under diverse projects within two years passionately and devotedly. The award for the year 2013-14 was conferred on Debanshu at a function held at the Darbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhawan New Delhi. This NSS volunteers’ category award carried a cash award of Rs 15,000, certificate and a silver medal for Debanshu.

First- Phase of India’s Largest Private Entrance Test ‘LPU NEST’- 2015 commenced at LPU Campus

The first- phase of India’s largest private entrance test LPU National Eligibility & Scholarship Test (LPU NEST)-2015 commenced at LPU Campus today. Considered as the overall 5th largest entrance test in the government (Centre & State) as well as private sectors, the three-day phase of the test will last up to 22nd November 2014. More than 20,000 school students are appearing for the coveted test, and also participating in numerous events to explore in their talents under ‘Explorica’ program. In the next two phases of ‘LPU NEST- 2015’many Lac students are expected to appear. These phases will be on the school campuses and through online mode. The deserving students will also be awarded with scholarship up to Rs 5 Lakh per student. The participating students, teachers and schools in the events of ‘Explorica’ will also be awarded with prizes and certificates.

Coke Studio Mega-cert took over the city giving the students of LPU Jalandhar, a spectacular night to remember. The captivated crowd was seen swooning and enjoying the performance on popular tracks from Coke Studio such as ‘Dum Dum Andar’ and ‘Kattey’. With the impeccable musical renditions by the celebrated musician, Coke Studio beautifully echoed the spirit of the LPU Youth Vibe 2014 – a confluence of musical talents much as this festival (Youth Vibe 2014) itself is a confluence of diverse talent across the country.

Three-day Punjab School Education Board’s Zonal level co-curricular competitions concluded at LPU


Lovely Professional University had been hosting three-day Punjab School Education Board’s Zonal level co-curricular competitions since 11th November 2014. These competitions concluded at the campus today. Board’s competitions were held for 18 events including those for Shabd Gayan, Lok-Naach, War Gayan, Malwai Gidha, Kavishari, Gatka and more.  For these, about 3000 school students from more than 200 schools of the zone competed at different stages of LPU.

One of the biggest Indian rock show competitions “Armageddon” dominated the 3rd day of ongoing LPU Global Open Fest-Youth Vibe-2014. With originality of music, strong bands and the spirit of rock n roll, the day proved a comprehensive entity in profound melodies.  25 teams, from all across India and other countries, competed with each other carrying different themes.  With this competition, LPU proved itself as one of the largest platform for the young creators of music in India.  Beginning of Model Hunt for direct entry to final round of Miss India 2015 in Mumbai was another attraction of the day. In addition, 50 more competitions including Indian Folk Dances, Mr & Ms Youth Vibe, Bolly-wood Style Dancing, Quiz, Robo Football Mania, Case Development and more added required spirit to the fest. LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal inaugurated Fest Carnival today at the campus.  Carnival showcased more than 100 stalls and kiosks to cater to varied interests of the students. The most attractive part of the carnival remained 200 feet-long displays of waste products. Through 300 illustrating models, decorative pieces, furniture objects and more; these students taught onlookers about waste management. In the evening, India’s Got Talent Winner Liza Malik & international dance groups enthralled students of LPU & 60 other institutions.

CRPF-Family Welfare Association (CWA) signed an MoU with LPU

CWA, an organization working for welfare of wards, widows, NOKs (Next of Kin) & personnel with disabilities of Central Reserve Police Force, has signed an MoU with Lovely Professional University.  After mutual discussions with LPU, CRPF-CWA expressed its interest to get some courses designed for CRPF personnel and their family-members. On attaining mutual understanding an MoU was signed between the two which seeks LPU to deliver special courses, and also to provide assistance in skill enhancement of CRPF members. CWA President Smt Suneeta Trivedi, Project Co-ordinator Group Center Jalandhar Smt. Sunita Thorpe, and LPU Pro Chancellor Mrs. Rashmi Mittal, Director General Er. HR Singla have signed for both the sides. The MoU was signed during celebration of Diamond Jubilee Year of CRPF in New Delhi, which was presided over by Union HRD Minister Smt Smriti Irani.

LPU observed ‘Run for Unity’ to celebrate Sardar Patel's birth anniversary


On the nationwide invocation made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, LPU also observed “Run for Unity” on its campus. Thousands of students from all the states of India and even international students from 26 countries participated in a massive 5 kms run within the campus. LPU School of Architecture & Design inaugurated its first 3-day international conference NICHE (Neo- International Conference of Habitable Environments)-2014 today. Organizing in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA)- a national body of architects in the country, it is first of its kind in the Punjab state.  The conference is to deal with aspects of architecture, planning & design. International speakers & audience from Iran, Algeria, Mauritius, Turkey and other countries are to attend the conference on different  days. The aim of the conference is to deal with both external (planning & architecture) and internal (interior and design) architectural aspects. Chairman IIA Publication Board Mr. Surinder Bagha, Vice-President IIA Ms. Divya Khush, LPU Chancellor Mr. Ashok Mittal and Ar. Namita Singh inaugurated the conference by lighting of the lamp.

Rani Breast Cancer Trust (RBCT) motivated LPU Students to stand against fast spreading Breast Cancer

In order to spread awareness among students about breast cancer, Lovely Professional University and renowned NGO Rani Breast Cancer Trust (RBCT) organised motivational seminar on breast cancer. The RBCT Chandigarh Managing Trustee Bittu Safeena Sandhu inspired LPU students to take strides against breast cancer. Sharing experiences and best practices in preventing, diagnosing and treating breast cancer, committed social worker & motivational speaker Mrs Sandhu explained all about fast spreading dangerous disease. She talked about alarming facts, risk factors, statistics, and symptoms in simple manner through presentation, along with short documentaries. She also awakened students about the easy remedy and control of breast cancer.

LPU & SPS Apollo Hospitals organised fourth Nursing Conference

In order to educate the nursing students of the state about management of emergency and resuscitation cases, LPU School of Pharmaceutical Sciences & SPS Apollo Hospitals organised 4th Nursing conference at LPU campus. Near 500 nursing students, doctors, nurses, paramedics of the state participated in the conference. Important lectures  on ‘Conduction System Anatomy’; ‘Cardiac Rhythm Disturbances’, ‘ECG Basics’, ‘Chain of Survival’ , ‘Basic Life Support’ and more were delivered by senior emergency care practitioners. Experts in the fields of cardiology, resuscitation, emergency and intensive care; Dr. Vikas Bansal, Dr. Anupam Srivastva, Dr. Kanwalpreet Sodhee, Dr. Colonel Neera from SPS Apollo Hospitals educated would- be- nurses for their required role.
