Thousands of LPU students from its different departments are strongly promoting PM Modi’s “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”at LPU Campus on the 2nd day of LPU Global Youth Festival- Youth Vibe 2014. LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal inaugurated Fest Carnival today at the campus. Carnival showcased more than 100 stalls and kiosks to cater to varied interests of the students. The most attractive part of the carnival remained 200 feet-long displays of waste products. Through 300 illustrating models, decorative pieces, furniture objects and more; these students taught onlookers about waste management. In the evening, India’s Got Talent Winner Liza Malik & international dance groups enthralled students of LPU & 60 other institutions.
LPU students from schools of Business, Agriculture, Fashion Technology, Pharmacy, Computer Sciences, Mechanical Engineering and others worked hard with their imagination and intellect. Students not only made cleanliness- drives but also collected waste products to utilize these. Agriculture students prepared models including Water-sprinkler, Hydrophonics-without soil cultivation, Organic cultivation in Bamboos, Kitchen & Terrace Gardening, DNA structure, Table lamps and more. Computer sciences and engineering students utilized waste keyboards, push-buttons, wires, cabinets, spare parts, CDs, tube-rods, and more to convert them into amazing structures. Similarly, Pharmacy and Fashion Technology students used empty medicine, glucose bottles and their lids, torn clothes, threads, wood-peels, half burnt match-sticks and more.
Side by side competitions for stage plays focusing different social-evils, technical, literary, management, sports and social events were also held at different venues of the campus. Global Social Summit also attracted the students where ten prominent NGOs are awakening the youth to be on the fore-fronts for helping the society. The winners of different events of the day were also honoured and awarded with cash prizes by LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal, Pro-Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal and Vice Chancellor Dr Ramesh Kanwar. Tomorrow, the third day of the fest will witness 50 competitive events including Case Development from Management section; Discourse & Water Sewage Plant visit for Social event; NakalChee Mimicry, Atrangi Comedy, Indian Folk Dance, Mehdi Making, Street Plays, Duet dances for Cultural; Scrrible Pad, Turn Coat, Face to Face, Quiz etc for Literary; and, Master of codes, Tech Tickle, Battle Ship, Robo Football Mania and more for technical competitions.
