- It is the second time that Coke Studio performed at LPU campus

More than 30,000 students swayed to the popular tracks of Ram Sampath, Sona Mohapatra and Vijayprakash at LPU campus today. Coke Studio Mega-cert took over the city giving the students of LPU Jalandhar, a spectacular night to remember. The captivated crowd was seen swooning and enjoying the performance on popular tracks from Coke Studio such as ‘Dum Dum Andar’ and ‘Kattey’. With the impeccable musical renditions by the celebrated musician, Coke Studio beautifully echoed the spirit of the LPU Youth Vibe 2014 – a confluence of musical talents much as this festival (Youth Vibe 2014) itself is a confluence of diverse talent across the country.
This year, Coca-Cola made the evening even more special and memorable by commencing the musical extravaganza with the fizzing sound of 1000 Coca-Cola bottles opening simultaneously. This not just signified the brand’s mantra of ‘Open Happiness’ but also gave the audience a flavour of the excitement in store for them.That’s not it, during the concert; audience penned their wishes on balloons which were released in the air by the artists at the end of the concert.
Speaking about the initiative, Ms Shalini Goenka, Executive Director, Ludhiana Beverages Private Limited said, “Coke Studio is a fusion of musical genres, melody, rhythms and of cultures. It is Coca-Cola's unique point of view on music, allowing the 'Happy' energy of Coca-Cola to bring people together. This is exactly what we intended to do by organizing the mega concert at Youth Vibe 2014.”
Praising Coke Studio’s concerts at LPU, Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal said, “We are happy to receive Coke Studio artistes second time at the campus. Since, it’s first on campus performance our students have become strong fans of Coke Studio. Indeed, it is an incredible platform that has been designed to nurture the new and diverse talent. This time also the concert remained an enriching and motivating experience for students to watch renowned artistes performing live. I am sure that students both from LPU and other institutions must have learnt a lot from the star-artistes.
Mr Mittal added, “I hope that LPU student- bands will also be able to perform for MTV Coke studio in near future by learning a lot from such mammoth concerts. Coke Studio is known to promote Indo-Western fusion and LPU is a great platform for the same as we have students from all the states of India and 26 other countries.”
Famous TV program Satyamev Jayte fame Ram Sampath, one of the most promising composer and music producer in the country, said: “Coke Studio is the most incredible platform for any artist to be associated with. It is the platform where people from diverse cultural backgrounds come together to create wonderful music .I have been associated with this platform for the last two years now and it has been a delightful journey throughout. I am glad to be part of such a wonderful musical confluence here in LPU. I hope they enjoyed the performances as much as we enjoyed performing for them”.
Famous singer of “ Ambersariyaa Mundia Ve” song Sona Mohapatra said:“Coke Studio is an incredible platform that has been conceptualized to tap our country’s great musical talent. This kind of a platform is a boon for musicians as they can showcase their talent in the best possible way. I had a great time performing at LPU Jalandhar, the response of students from all Indian states and many countries was very heartening and rewarding.”
According to Vijayprakash who has sung famous Jai Jai Ho song composed by legendary AR Rehman, said: “India has such immense talent but very few platforms to showcase it. Coke Studio is one such platform that has been exploring the length and breadth of the country to dig out such great talent. It was amazing performing here at LPU amidst such an energetic crowd. I hope they all had a great time just like the way we enjoyed performing for them.”
This year, Coca-Cola also ensured that the students got the chance to share their exciting Coke Studio experience with friends and family by setting up a Live Tweet Wall at the venue. This wall displayed tweets about the concert real-time. Lastly, to ensure that the audience took home fond memories from the evening, Coca-Cola set-up a special Can Sleeving station that allowed attendees to get their picture engraved on the Coca-Cola can. A perfect memorabilia, capturing the perfect Coke Studio moments!
