AIU’s All India Inter University Women Boxing Championship Concluded at LPU


  • LPU Pooja & Jyoti declared the Best Promising & the Best Challenger boxer of the Championship and Nikhat Zareen of Osmania University Hyderabad declared the Best Boxer
  • Kurukshetra University lifted overall championship Trophy with 37 points; MDU Rohtak declared 1st Runner-up with 32 points; and, LPU stood 2nd Runner-up with 23 points
  • KUK Boxers won 3 gold & 3 bronze medals; MDU girls clinched 2 gold, 2 silver & 1 bronze; and, LPU grabbed 3 silver and 1 bronze medal

LPU won Seven Medals at 30th All India Inter University National Youth Festival at Indore


  • Fest was organized under the aegis of ‘Association on Indian Universities (AIU)’ & sponsored by Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports
  • 80 Indian Universities participated in Inter-University Youth Festival- 2015  held at Indore

LPU hosting 14-Day All India Inter University Boxing (M/W) Championship

Lovely Professional University is hosting 14-Day All India Inter University Boxing (Men/Women) Championship at its campus from 19th February to 4th March 2015. LPU Pro- Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal informed: “After great success of many AIU sports events hosted at LPU, it is once again a proud privilege that Association of Indian Universities has selected LPU for organizing this Boxing Championship. In this prestigious event, 54 women and 88 men teams from all across India have registered to compete. Near 2000 boxers including Managers, Mentors, Referees, Officials will participate. Boxers will compete in 10 weight categories to exhibit the best of their power and  punches. The first phase of the championship will be up to 23rd Feb for women competition and next phase will last up to 4th March 2015 for Men bouts. We have made every effort to make this event enjoyable for all the visiting teams and other participants.”

7th Annual Sports Meet Concluded at LPU

  • Balvir Kaur  and Satish Kumar are declared the best woman and man athletes 



The curtain fell on the 7th Annual Sports Meet of Lovely Professional University by declaring  Balvir Kaur (4 Gold Medals)  and Satish Kumar (3 Gold Medals) as the best woman and man athletes of the University. After tough competitions among participating athletes from different departments of the university, School of Physical Education won 22 Gold Medals; Electronics & Computer Engineering three; Mechanical Engineering and Distance Education 2 each. Under the clear-cut diversity shining at the sports arena by athletes from all the Indian States and 30 other countries, 11 new records were made in different events. The cauldron, which was lit on the inaugural day, was finally put out with a promise to meet again next year. Fireworks also exploded next to the sports stadium during the grand closing ceremony held with cultural activities and artistic performances, including body-building demonstration.

LPU inaugurated its 7th Annual Sports Meet

  • Competitions held in 13 athletic events separately for men & women athletes on inaugural day
  • Jasdeep Singh of Distance Education,  both Balveer Kaur & Mandeep Kumar from School of Physical Education established four new records
LPU inaugurated two-day 7th Annual Sports Meet of the university at its sports stadium. Maintaining Olympic traditions, the inaugural day began with competitions among talented sportspersons of the university after emblematic torch relay invocation. On the inaugural day finals for shot put, long jump, discus throw, triple jump,1500 mts  & 800 mts races; semi finals for 100 mts race; and heats and rounds for 400mts, 4x400 mts relay and 4x100 mts relays were held in both men and women  categories. Prior to this colourful march past on drum beats was held where 40 contingents comprising thousands of participants in proper sports kits provided an Olympic sports fest dimensions to the meet. The meet was declared open by LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal by letting pigeons and balloons fly free into the sky. Mr Mittal inspired university sports persons to establish new records to reach to national and even international sports arena.

  • State Topper-Students are honoured with Apple I-PADs


LPU conducts its B Tech Entrance Test ‘National Entrance and Scholarship Test (LPUNEST) annually in almost all prominent cities across India under different phases. The scores got in the test are taken as eligibility for admission and for scholarship up to Rs 5 Lakh per student.  This year, for the first phase of LPUNEST-2015 test more than 300 schools participated with huge registration of 35,000 students from 11 districts of Punjab. Of these, the best performing 11 schools per district are individually honoured with laptops, printers, internet dongles, school needed softwares & website creation help. State topper-Students are awarded APPLE I-PADs and 11 district topper- students are awarded with ‘HP Slate Tablets’. In addition to this, near 4000 students are offered coveted LPU scholarships.

LPU student declared the best speaker among 10,000 participated for ‘Indian Student Parliament’

  • Event was supported by UNESCO Chair for Human Rights, Democracy Peace & Tolerance World Peace Centre (Pune) and Indian government
  • Eminent personalities from Indian government, parliament, media, film industry addressed participating students
The final year student of LPU B.Tech (Mechanical Engineering) Aman Walia has recently been honoured with the best student speaker award of India among 10,000 other participating students. Occasion was 5th annual students’ conclave ‘Indian Student Parliament’ organized by renowned Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad Foundation, Pune. This three-day conclave brought together many thousands of student leaders from across India, and was supported by UNESCO Chair for Human Rights, Democracy Peace & Tolerance World Peace Centre (Pune) and Indian government.

LPU organised 2nd Invitational T-20 Cricket Tournament 2015

  • Top 27 School teams played 27 matches for eight days to display the best of Cricket
  • More than 400 school cricketers from top schools of Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh & Punjab participated

    Lovely Professional University hosts T-20 Invitational School Cricket Tournament annually to promote cricket at grass root level.  As an under-19 T-20 format cricket tournament, LPU organized 8-day tournament for 27 knock out matches at two pitches of LPU Sports Stadium. More than 400 school cricketers from top 27 schools of Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh & Punjab participated. Players displayed great cricketing action as many state and national under-14, 16 & 19 players, who have played under School Games Federation of India, were also representing different teams. All LPU cricket lovers enjoyed their batting, fielding, bowling & catches’ actions. The winner, first runner up & second runner up teams were also honoured with cash prizes of Rs 31,000, Rs 21,000 & Rs 11,000 respectively. NIS qualified officials looked after the tournament.

LPU hosted 32nd Junior National Softball Championship declared Punjab Girls & Chhattisgarh Boys Champions



* Punjab girls excelled Kerala Girls by 11-02; whereas, Chhattisgarh Boys beat Madhya Pradesh boys by 10-0

Eminent speakers from the industry and top entrepreneurs will address and interact with the students during different sessions of the camp. Students will also be taken to different top industries to accord them practical know how about industry.

LPU organised two day State Taekwondo Championship 2015

•    More than 100 competitors from 12 Districts of the state participated
•    Kapurthala district lifted the overall trophy of the championship, Amritsar remained first runner up and Hoshiarpur district stood second runner up
•    LPU Students won 12 Medals in Senior Category; 5 Gold, 3 Silver & 4 Bronze

Market leader in Paints industry, Asian Paints has selected MBA students of Lovely Professional University at annual salary package of Rs 4.67Lakh.
