The final year student of LPU B.Tech (Mechanical Engineering) Aman Walia has recently been honoured with the best student speaker award of India among 10,000 other participating students. Occasion was 5th annual students’ conclave ‘Indian Student Parliament’ organized by renowned Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad Foundation, Pune. This three-day conclave brought together many thousands of student leaders from across India, and was supported by UNESCO Chair for Human Rights, Democracy Peace & Tolerance World Peace Centre (Pune) and Indian government.Eminent speakers from the government, parliament, media and film industry including Defence Minister Manohar Parikar, Anti Corruption leader Anna Hazare, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal also addressed the students. Every year ten to twelve thousands politically and socially active students from 450 universities, 25,000 colleges and 29 states of India, make way to participate at this flagship annual conclave after a rigorous selection process.
Amid different 8 sessions and different topics thereof, LPU student Aman presented his applauding speaking skills for the topic “33% – Is it a Real Tool for Women Empowerment?”. His single liner that “a girl should get all sorts of reservations right from her very being in the womb of her mother” was appreciated by one and all. He explained the core values of the topic with forceful sentences & perfect power of oration, and this all made him to earn the coveted title of the best speaker. Belonging to the state ‘Haryana’ considered to be conservative about women, Aman changed all such notions altogether by raising forceful voice in favour of women. Jubilant Aman credits his winning to his teachers’ guidance and LPU environment which keeps on providing students opportunities to excel others. Illustrative, Aman is also student Vice-Chairman of ‘American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)’ and Executive Member of ‘Engineering for Change (E4C)’ at LPU.
Congratulating the talented student, LPU Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal informed: “We are happy to see the leading quality of our student who has excelled thousands of other student-leaders from across India. In fact, LPU lays emphasis on all- round personality development of the students and so their talents lying within are also probed out along with their academic excellences. In this regard, LPU is running student project cell- “Lovely Youth Capital” which keeps on offering students a broadened platform to develop their intrinsic abilities so that students get adjudged to the core. The success of our student is the result of such an endeavour, as in spite of his being an ME student he was always guided to nourish his speaking skills and leadership quality more.
