  • “At LPU, students can learn the science of Agriculture beyond a mere farming”: SiliconIndia Team of Editors

India’s largest professional news and media company ‘SiliconIndia’ has ranked Lovely Professional University’s School of Agriculture (SAGR) top in India. Recognizing LPU School as ‘the College of the Year’, the quoted prestigious magazine has published this ranking after going for a comprehensive survey based on real worth, quality of talent and performance of the students. This top ranking means much as agriculture contributes the highest percentage of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of any developing country. So, it has become imperative in India, too, to study and practice agriculture from the grassroots level of formal education as it is a key sector of the Indian economy. When such schools embark on micro agric industries within their premises, skillful youths will certainly rise to the occasion.

Assistant Managing Editor of the magazine Mr Sarath Syam holds: “SiliconIndia constantly endeavors to identify "The Best" in a variety of areas important to the profession and its practitioners. For SilliconIndia Team, LPU’s School of Agriculture is one such institution where students can learn the science of Agriculture beyond a mere farming.” SiliconIndia is India´s largest community of professionals and there is a lot of collective knowledge that can help in accelerating careers.

Informing about the agriculture school and importance of agriculture, LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal says: “We are happy to note the top ranking attributed to our School of Agriculture. Our school faculty engaged in consultancy, research and publication to add immense value to the academic life. Identifying specific problems and major constraints in agriculture development, the school develops techniques for natural resources conservation and management. In fact, we aim to perform the integrated functions of teaching, research and extension in agriculture.”  Conventional agriculture relies heavily on chemical fertilizers and toxic pesticides; however, LPU School of Agriculture promotes organic farming practices which are good for human health and livestock.

LPU is contributing significantly towards the development of trained human resource professionals in agriculture and allied fields. LPU is providing education in agriculture programs including B Sc (Hons) Agriculture, M Sc & Ph D in Agronomy, Plant Breeding & Genetics, Vegetable Sciences and Soil Sciences.

The problem is one in which adequate individuals are not speaking intellectually. I am pleased that I found this by seeing this and searching for one thing.
