AIU’s 89th Annual Meet Concluded at LPU with Resolutions to Promote Excellence in Higher Education

  • Host LPU bade adieu to 200 Vice-chancellors, officials of MHRD & Higher Education apex bodies from across country, and other foreign delegates

Association of Indian Universities’ (AIU’s) 89th Annual General Meeting (AGM) concluded at Lovely Professional University, today, with various resolutions to promote excellence in Higher Education. On the last day of the 3-day conference three sessions (General, Business & Valedictory) were chaired by AIU President Prof H M Desai and co-chaired by Secretary General Prof Furqan Qamar.  200 Vice Chancellors and other delegates from across country participated in all the sessions to express their commitment for having consensus on policies and initiatives for bringing revolutionary reconstruction in higher education. Prof Dr D Pathak (Vice Chancellor KN Modi University) presented brief report about discussions held & deliberations made during all the nine technical and non technical sessions of the conference.

Top ‘Think Tank’ of Indian Higher Education System ‘Association of Indian Universities (AIU) is organizing three-day 89th Annual General National Meet at Lovely Professional University. Prof Ved Prakash, Chairman, University Grants Commission, inaugurated AIU conference to be continued up to 25th May 2015.The AIU national meet saw massive participation of top 200 international and national Vice-Chancellors, Officials from Ministry of HRD, and Heads of Higher Education Apex Bodies. UGC Chairman also released the special issue of the University News on ‘Promotion of Excellence in Higher Education in India’.  Participants on the inaugural day included foreign delegates from UK, UAE, Germany, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Columbia, Australian High Commission, European Union and more. AIU President Prof HM Desai presided over the Meet.

Second day of Association of Indian Universities’ (AIU’s) 89th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Lovely Professional University remained very important for massive discussions on Global Rankings & International Collaborations for Excellence in Higher Education. The day was divided into four sessions for eminent speakers and participating 200 Vice Chancellors from across the country and foreign delegates from UK, UAE, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Columbia, European Union and more. AIU President Prof H M Desai chaired the first session; whereas, other sessions were chaired by three Vice Chancellors of the top universities of India. Topics widely discussed and elaborated with data for excellence in higher education included Quality Assurance; Global Rankings; International Collaboration & Academic Exchange; and, Leveraging Technology.

Association of Indian Universities (AIU), an apex Inter-University body of Higher Education in the Country, is organizing its 89th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on May 23-25, 2015 at Lovely Professional University (Phagwara).  This mega event of AIU is being attended by 200+ national & international players of higher education including Vice Chancellors, Officials of MHRD, Heads of apex agencies of higher education and more to exchange ideas and to gather consensus on policies and initiatives.

Students of Lovely Professional University are being placed with the best positions and salary packages in the top companies of diverse fields. Recently, Practo Technologies Ltd has selected 28 LPU students during two visits as Territory Sales Managers at salary packages up to Rs 7.08 Lakh per annum. LPU students of MBA, B.Tech (different streams) and commerce graduates of Batch 2015 had underwent the selection process based on Aptitude, Psychometric Tests, Group Discussions and Personal Interview. Selected MBA students have joined their duties immediately at Bangalore; whereas, students of other streams will join in the month of June 2015. LPU students have impressed the selectors in their first visit that they revisited the campus soon to select more of the talented students. LPU Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal congratulated the selected students and also the faculty members for guiding students well to get settled before leaving LPU campus.

Minister Majithia launched Energy Conservation & Efficiency Campaign for Punjab State School Children at LPU.

Minister Punjab, S Bikram Singh Majithia (New & Renewable Energy Sources, Revenue, Rehabilitation, Information & Public Relation), today, launched “Energy Conservation & Efficiency Campaign” for Punjab State School Children at Lovely Professional University (LPU). First of its kind, this program was targeted to train participating 1200+ school principals, science teachers & other educationists of Jalandhar & Kapurthala districts of Punjab. All of them are further required to train school-children of their respective schools to bring out a revolutionary change in conserving energy.  For this participants were handed over energy saving kits having posters, stickers and other material for the guidance of the students. State School Education Minister Dr Daljit Singh Cheema, who was Guest of Honour of the day, inspired the participants to be up to the expectations of the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy of the state.

England’s Coventry University Students visited LPU under Exchange Program.

 A group of 20 students & faculty-members from England’s Coventry University reached LPU Campus under study exchange program. This was the third visit of students from Coventry University in a row since 2013. LPU has specially designed a program of advanced knowledge about varied Indian aspects for the students of its partner foreign universities. Under this program, Coventry students learnt about Indian businesses, related policies, students’ entrepreneurship, IT power and cultural values.  Visiting students were also led to various Industries, IT companies, NGOs, and top places of cultural importance. Highlighting, in addition to other top universities of the USA, China, Canada and more; Coventry University of the UK is one of the partner universities of LPU.

LPU School of Fashion Design organised its annual Graduating Show-2015

  • Final Semester students of M.Sc & B.Sc fashion design program showcased 150 designs created by them
  • Bollywood Celebrity Designer Farah Sanjana from team of Hi-Design (Mumbai) led the fashion show
  • Wills &  Lakme Fashion Weeks’ famed Choreographer & Bollywood actor Anil Chowdhary choreographed the show
  • Organized as grand Fashion Show ‘Ensemble’, the Graduating Show-2015 gave wider entrepreneurship exposure to LPU students 

The School of Fashion Design of Lovely Professional University organized mega fashion show ‘Ensemble’ at its Annual Graduating Show-2015, today. Near 30 Models, who were again LPU students, showcased 11 collections of 150 designs prepared by fashion program students of LPU. These designs were created by 50+ final semester student-designers of M.Sc & B.Sc Fashion Design program.  Bollywood Celebrity Designer Farah Sanjana from team of Hi-Design (Mumbai) led the fashion show. Famous Wills & Lakme Fashion Weeks’ Choreographer & Bollywood actor Anil Chowdhary choreographed the show. Lovely Group Chairman Mr Ramesh Mittal, LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal and Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal also witnessed the event.

Last date of availing LPU’s Early Decision Benefit (EDB) Program is 30th May 2015

Tuition fee of the last year (2014) would be applicable to students applying under EDB
This year, international  students are also eligible to avail EDB program


American universities guide students to take early decision to join university study program under Early Decision Benefit (EDB) program. In turn, the students focus on the university which provides the best study program as per their requirement and objective. Seeing that thousands of students availed this opportunity last years, LPU is implementing EDB this year too on the same US pattern. The students enrolled under EDB will be benefitted and pay tuition fee as that of the last year 2014. This year, international students are also eligible to avail EDB program. The application/registration deadline for EDB is 30th May 2015.

LPU Committed Rs 10 Lakh to support Nepal Earthquake Victims


  • Declares monetary help by contributing to renowned national & international organizations
  • More than 250  Nepalese students studying at LPU  lit candles & marched silently to pay tributes to those killed in the devastating quake 


Lovely Professional University has come forward with courage and commitment to support earthquake victims in Nepal. LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal has declared a monetary help of Rs 5 lakh through university funds and another 5 Lakh from students’ initiative ‘Joy of Giving’. This amount will be given as donation of Rs 2 Lakh each to Prime Minister’s Relief Fund, UNICEF, and Red Cross Society. The balance Rs 4 Lakh will be given to Nepalese students studying at LPU to spend judiciously as per the situation demands when they will go to their country after final exams.

World’s Top Hotel Company ‘Ritz-Carlton’ (USA) selected LPU student at Rs 22.5 Lakh Salary


  • LPU student to join duties in Boston, USA, after appearing for his M Sc (Hotel Management) final exams in May 2015
  • United States of America has already issued VISA in his name; taking flight on 27th May 2015
  • Supposed to get near double salary in Florida (USA) after completion of the phase of his appointment in Boston (USA)


M.Sc Hotel Management student of Lovely Professional University has been selected by world’s Top Hotel Company ‘Ritz-Carlton’ (USA) at Rs 22.5 Lakh salary per annum. LPU student Anish Vikas Diwikar is to join duties in Boston (USA) after appearing for university M.Sc (Hotel Management) final exams in May 2015. United States of America has already issued VISA in his name and Anish is scheduled to take flight on 27th May 2015. With the completion of first phase of job for six months at Chatham Bars Inn (Boston) USA, Anish will shift to Ritz Carlton Miami (Florida, USA) as Chef, and supposedly get almost double of the salary offered for initial phase. As a seasoned Chef, Anish has expertise in preparing Thai, Mexican & Italian foods in addition to his varied sea-food preparations for beach tourists.
