LPU ‘Youth Vibe-2015’ becomes the biggest Youth Festival of the Country

  • Mega competitions are witnessing 5000+ competitors from 200 institutions of the country competing for cultural, management, technology, literary and social events
  • Students are also enjoying varied national and international cuisines at 150 stalls
The penultimate day of five-day global open fest- “Youth Vibe- 2015” being held at Lovely Professional University witnessed today massive competitive spirit for various cultural, management, technology, literary and social events. For mega competitions more than 5000 contestants from 200 institutions of the country are competing neck to neck to win laurels for their respective institution.  As such,   LPU Youth Vibe-2015 fest becomes the biggest Youth Festival of the country. Along with display of strong competitive zeal students are also enjoying varied national and international cuisines at 150 food stalls. Grand musical pourings from famous ‘Kartavya Band’, hair-raising bike-stunts and thematic fashion show remained crowd-culling events of the day.

Prime Minister of Lesotho Kingdom to Chair 5th Convocation of LPU today

  • Rt Hon PM Dr Pakalitha Bethuel Mosisili will be accompanied by high profiled 23-member delegation including First Lady of the Kingdom 
  • More than 12,000 Regular and Distance Education students of 2015 batch will receive degrees and diplomas 
 Right Hon’ble Prime Minister of Lesotho Kingdom Dr Pakalitha Bethuel Mosisili will be the Chief Guest at 5th Convocation of Lovely Professional University scheduled for Saturday, 31st October 2015 at 11 am. PM Mosisili will be accompanied by high profiled 23-member delegation including First Lady of the Kingdom Mrs Mathato Mosisili, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon Tlohang Sekhamane. PM Mosisili will honour  gold medalists and toppers of various LPU academic programs. On the same day, ‘Honoris Causa’ Doctorate Degree of LPU will also be conferred on PM Mosisili. Governor Punjab & Haryana & Administrator of UT Chandigarh Shri Kaptan Singh Solanki will also grace the occasion. More than 12,000 Regular and Distance Education students of 2015 batch will receive degrees and diplomas.

Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology Longowal (Punjab) declared Overall Winner of EFFICYCLE-2015 Competition held at LPU

  • Occasion was 6th season of LPU & SAE NIS hosted green mobility endeavour Efficycle’2015
  • College of Engineering, Pune & Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana declared Overall 2nd & 3rd Winner respectively
  • Cash prizes worth Rs 5 Lakh & certificates were distributed to the top and other winners  of different competitions 

Lovely Professional University & Society for Automotive Engineering-Northern India Section (SAENIS) hosted 6th season of green mobility competitive national event Efficycle-2015 was concluded today at LPU campus. Team of GREEN RANGERS, Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology Longowal (Punjab) is declared overall winner of the competition; whereas, teams from College of Engineering, Pune & Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana declared Overall 2nd & 3rd Winner respectively. Cash prizes of Rs one lakh, Rs 75,000 & Rs 50,000 were awarded these top three winners out of participating 100 teams. In all cash prizes worth Rs 5.15 Lakh and certificates were distributed to other winners in different categories of the competitions.  15 other winning teams or individuals were awarded with cash prizes from Rs 10,000 to Rs 30,000 each for the best Design, Innovation, Marketing Presentation, Acceleration, Utility, Gradient, Maneuverability, Durability, Slogan, Light Vehicle, Built up quality, Faculty advisor and Girl participant. The event was supported by Maruti Suzuki, Indian Oil Corporation and ICAT.

Promoting renewable and alternative energy usage in the country, an eco-friendly national competitive event ‘EFFICYCLE 2015’ is inaugurated today at LPU campus. Near 100 teams of top engineering institutions including IITs, NITs, ITS, Government institutions from across India are exhibiting motorized expertise of engineering students. Society for Automotive Engineering-Northern India Section (SAENIS) and Lovely Professional University have collaborated to host this event. The event is supported by Maruti Suzuki, Indian Oil Corporation and ICAT. LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal, Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal, Director ICAT Mr Dinesh Tyagi, GM ICAT Mr UD Bangale & DGM R&D Maruti Suzuki India Mr Jitendra Malhotra were Guests of Honour on the inaugural day.

3000 LPU students showcased their talent for 30 Competitions at Spectra-2015

  • Occasion was the second day of annual cultural fest for competitions in music, dance, theatre, literary & fine arts events
  • Eminent Judges of years’ experience from the related event category evaluated students’ performances
  • One of the judges to launch music album with LPU singing star within 15 days 

The second day of 3-day annual talent finding competitive cultural fest of Lovely Professional University ‘SPECTRA 2015’ witnessed today 30 massive competitions for which  3000 LPU students showcased their viable talent. The annual event is for competitions in music, dance, theatre, literary & fine arts categories till 16th October 2015. Acclaimed Judges from the related event category and industry are evaluating participants’ performances. One of the judges, music director Mr RK Bassi has promised singing competition winner student to launch a music album with the student within 15 days.  Fun filled competitive fiesta is not only entertaining the students but also enlightening & enhancing their competitive spirit.  Thousands of other on-looking students also enjoyed unique cuisines at food stalls raised by different departments of LPU. Tomorrow, more competitions will be held under 20 titles and these will be followed by prize distribution ceremony.

LPU cultural fest ‘Spectra’ opened with Odissi dance Maestro Kavita Dwibedi’s enthralling performance

  • Three-day annual competitive cultural festival  ‘SPECTRA-2015’ is to hold competitions in music, dance, theatre, literary & fine arts
Three-day annual talent finding competitive cultural festival ‘SPECTRA 2015’ opened today at Lovely Professional University through SPIC MACAY classical performance by Odissi dance expert Kavita Dwibedi. The annual event is scheduled to hold massive competitions in music, dance, theatre, literary & fine arts up to 16th October 2015. The competitions are to identify the best cultural talent among the students of different LPU departments, even other than performing & fine arts departments including those of engineering, sciences, pharmacy, architecture. Near 3000 participating students organized a talent caravan throughout the campus as a cultural procession.


LPU conducted two-day ‘Entrepreneurship’ Workshop

  • Secretary of Indo-US Collaboration for Engineering Education (IUCEE) sensitized LPU students for learning by doing
  • Motivated LPU students to design new projects as ‘Import Substitution’ to boost Indian Economy. 
The School of Biotechnology & Biosciences of Lovely Professional University organized two day workshop on ‘Entrepreneurship’. Secretary of Indo-US Collaboration for Engineering Education (IUCEE), Mr Ashok Kalbag sensitized hundreds of LPU students of different departments for learning by doing.  He motivated LPU students to design new projects as ‘Import Substitution’ so as to boost Indian economy. The target of the workshop was also to integrate students of different disciplines, and encouraged them to work in multi-disciplinary teams to design society needed entrepreneurial projects. During different interactive and pragmatic sessions on both the days, students’ presentations were also discussed and evaluated by Mr Kalbag.

Tech Mahindra & LPU to launch Industry Specific Joint Programs

  • Tech Mahindra has stepped with ‘Campus Connect’ initiative to bridge gap between Industry and Academia
  • LPU & Tech Mahindra will explore for offering industry oriented co-branded programs to LPU  B Tech/ M Tech students 
  • Both will try to enhance employability and selection of students
  • LPU Students to get industry training right from Day-1 
Striving to bridge gap between Industry and Academia, Tech Mahindra (Tech M) and Lovely Professional University (LPU) have collaborated for offering industry specific programs. These programs are to be specially designed for LPU B Tech/ M Tech students as co-branded programs. So, LPU students are now to get industry requisite training right from Day-1 of joining these programs.  For this, Tech Mahindra has stepped with illustrated ‘Campus Connect’ initiative. As per MoU, both the partners will also work to enhance employability and selection of students.

LPU Performing Arts’ Students learnt enthralling Theatric-Lessons from Nadira Babbar’s Play enacted at LPU Stage

  • The play ‘Yeh Hai Bombay Meri Jaan’ exhibited life of struggle and success for finding a place in bollywood
  • Actors of Mumbai based theatre group ‘Ekjute’ presented marvelous performance
Lovely Professional University students witnessed today mesmerizing theatrics from theater-veteran Nadira Zaheer Babbar’s popular play ‘Yeh Hai Bombay Meri Jaan’ enacted at its densely packed SDM Auditorium. The play entertained and awakened students through deep humour, pathos, satires & social concerns alike. Actor, playwright, director Nadira’s this production was enacted by artistes from her Mumbai based theatre group ‘Ekjute’. Nadira is wife of reputed bollywood star turned politician RaJ Babbar. LPU students from the School of Performing Arts learnt important theatric-skills from the performance. Along with National School of Drama graduate Nadira, other famous performers from Mumbai included Sangam Shukla  who acted as Devi Da, Mithilesh Maihar (Tikam), Manav Pande (Rajan), Rajiv Singh (Laxmi), Devesh (Arif Ali), Neha Shaikh (Mrs Nancy), Anupama Negi (Raila), Gunjan (Bela) and Hanif Patni. Living their characters, these actors acted in a spontaneous manner and by being in gripping connection with LPU audience. Structurally, the play focuses on various issues that strugglers have to face in Mumbai to find a place in bollywood film industry.

Rwandan Ambassador visited LPU

Adding another great name to the list of illustrious visitors to Lovely Professional University from across the world, His Excellency High Commissioner of Rwanda to India Mr Ernest Rwamucyo visited LPU campus. He met top officials of LPU Management, and also interacted with Rwandan Students studying in Punjab. He inspired Rwandan students to imbibe the great Indian culture and the working pattern which has made India one of the best countries in the world. He also asked students to bring good name to both of their native and visiting nations. His Excellency Mr Rwamucyo was also highly impressed with the facilities & education support being provided at LPU to the students of his country.
