Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology Longowal (Punjab) declared Overall Winner of EFFICYCLE-2015 Competition held at LPU

  • Occasion was 6th season of LPU & SAE NIS hosted green mobility endeavour Efficycle’2015
  • College of Engineering, Pune & Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana declared Overall 2nd & 3rd Winner respectively
  • Cash prizes worth Rs 5 Lakh & certificates were distributed to the top and other winners  of different competitions 

Lovely Professional University & Society for Automotive Engineering-Northern India Section (SAENIS) hosted 6th season of green mobility competitive national event Efficycle-2015 was concluded today at LPU campus. Team of GREEN RANGERS, Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology Longowal (Punjab) is declared overall winner of the competition; whereas, teams from College of Engineering, Pune & Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana declared Overall 2nd & 3rd Winner respectively. Cash prizes of Rs one lakh, Rs 75,000 & Rs 50,000 were awarded these top three winners out of participating 100 teams. In all cash prizes worth Rs 5.15 Lakh and certificates were distributed to other winners in different categories of the competitions.  15 other winning teams or individuals were awarded with cash prizes from Rs 10,000 to Rs 30,000 each for the best Design, Innovation, Marketing Presentation, Acceleration, Utility, Gradient, Maneuverability, Durability, Slogan, Light Vehicle, Built up quality, Faculty advisor and Girl participant. The event was supported by Maruti Suzuki, Indian Oil Corporation and ICAT.



‘Effi-Cycle’ derived from Efficient-Cycle provides students an opportunity to conceive, design and fabricate a three wheel configuration vehicle powered by human-electric hybrid power. It should be capable of seating two passengers catering to the day to day mobility needs. The vehicle must be aerodynamic, engineered for performance & safety and ergonomically designed. The objective is also to promote innovation and to generate consciousness towards environment friendly mobility solution.

Conveying best wishes to the winning teams, Executive Director (R & D) Maruti Suzuki India and Chairman SAE NIS, Mr CV Raman said: “The great battle for green mobility organized at LPU in collaboration with SAENIS has exhibited new excitement & challenges as never before. I am enthralled to note the great efforts of young engineering students in accomplishing the targeted work for a ‘Greener tomorrow’. I truly appreciate the deep commitment and enthusiasm of each student for making the Efficycle-2015 a memorable & highly competitive event.” Executive Adviser (R&D) Mr I V Rao and Vice President (R&D) Maruti Suzuki Dr Tapan Sahoo were guests of honour.

LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal expressed: “I am overwhelmed with students’ great response from all across India to the great concept of Effi-cycle. I congratulate all for the successful outcome of the event.” Mr Mittal also affirmed: “We are ever prepared to bridge gap between academia and industry.  This step of SAENIS and LPU collaboration is a great step in this direction. In future too we want to accord students such chances where they can prove their abilities and potentialities.”
