LPU annual event ‘Explorica’ saw Massive Visit of 30000 Students from 250+ Schools of Punjab

Two-day mega event included Armed Forces Showcase, Gyan Manthan, Academic Exposition, School Students’ Projects, Literary/Fine & Performing Arts competitions
Gyan Manthan State Topper won Rs 50,000 and District toppers Rs 10,000 each;  other competitive events’ winners also got cash prizes in thousands of rupees

For tinkering the young minds of the state, Lovely Professional University organized its annual event ‘Explorica’. This year, the event saw massive participation of 30000 students from 250+ schools of the Punjab. Event was chalked out so that young students showcase their talent on a larger platform. LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal informed: “Realizing our social responsibility to revitalize India's potential for intellectual leadership and national progress, LPU has initiated ‘Explorica’ to nurture young minds right from their school days. This program is sure to broaden the vision of school students. This is in accordance to our policy to revitalize education at all levels by starting with schools, which will ultimately enlighten the society.”

The dimensions of two-day annual international festival One World of Lovely Professional University got heightened when His Excellencies Ambassadors from six countries Mr Dembo M Badjie from Gambia, Mr El Hadji Ibou Boye from Senegal, Ms Elizabeth Paula Napeyok from Uganda, Mr Faruque Omar Faquira from Mozambique, Mr Ahmed Mohamud Mohamed from Somalia and Deputy High Commissioner and Minister Plenipotentiary Mr.Malose William Mogale from South Africa inaugurated it in unison. Theme of this year’s grand international festivity Travel & Tourism. About 2000 LPU international students from 30 countries are showcasing culture of their respective countries. Multi-coloured one kilometer long procession with attractive tableaus depicting culture of the represented countries, expo stalls, musical shows are letting thousands of on-looking students to imbibe global brotherhood to the core.

LPU hosting Ministry of Culture supported Global Female Folk Dance Competition & Carnival

  • International teams from China, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Tibet and more are participating along with 60 national teams
  • One of the biggest cultural fest in Asia involving youth to share self and appreciate others’ culture
  • Supported by Ministry of Culture (Government of India), this 18th cultural fest is to present more than 60 international & national folk dances
Allowing its students to imbibe multi-ethnicity and diversity in global cultural heritage, Lovely Professional University is hosting one of the biggest cultural fest in Asia- ‘Global Female Folk Dance Competition & Carnival’ at its campus. Organized by Ministry of Culture (Government of India) supported Charu Castle Foundation (CCF), this 18th edition of the cultural fest is to witness more than 60 international & national folk dances up to 28th November 2015. International teams from China, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Tibet and more are participating along with 60 other national teams. The colourful fest inaugurated today is involving young women from globe across to share self and appreciate others’ culture. Winning team will be awarded with cash prize of Rs 51,000 and four prominent artists of the Punjab state will be specially honoured.

LPU organized Google ‘Startup Weekend’ to promote Entrepreneurship among Students

  • LPU Students teams put forward visionary ideas and developed prototypes
  • Remained amazingly involved in a 54 hour mission to build start-up
  • Got prototypes critically analyzed by experienced mentors and judges

Following USA pattern, the Entrepreneurship Cell of Lovely Professional University organized Google guided ‘Startup Weekend’ at its campus. Remaining amazingly involved, LPU students learnt in just 54 hours how to startup by experiencing highs, lows, and pressure about business model creation and market validation. While learning how to create a real company, students also became sure to get the very best mentors, investors, co-founders, and sponsors on their way to a startup. Google Developers Group Jalandhar, running at LPU campus, also organized its annual Development Fest (DevFest-2015) on this occasion. LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal congratulated organizing team and future entrepreneur-students of LPU for successful outcome of the entrepreneurship promoting event. Mr Mittal assured that university will keep on celebrating the third week of every November as Startup Weekend.

LPU Students won Prelims of Mahindra All-India Quiz from 4000 Participants

  • Auto enthusiast students from different institutions had participated in 2000 teams of two-member each
  • Students will now participate in national rounds
  • 4 winners will get 4 Mahindra cars
Providing the biggest quizzing platform to students of the region, flagship automotive company of the Mahindra Group- Mahindra & Mahindra organized India’s largest Mahindra Auto Quotient (AQ) Quiz at Lovely Professional University. In preliminary written round of the seventh season of this auto quiz,  LPU mechanical engineering students’ team ‘Die Rivalen’ of Sri Raj Deepak Akki and Karumudi Narendra has been selected from Jalandhar. For this Satellite Round, 4000 auto enthusiast students from different institutions had participated in 2000 teams of two members each. Now for further two more City & Finale rounds, LPU team will further showcase their passion and intelligence about the world of automobiles from 20th November 2015 in Patiala and New Delhi. LPU Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal congratulated the winner students. She also thanked Mahindra Group team for reposing faith in LPU for hosting the mammoth quiz prelims.

LPU Student selected IT Manager in UAE at Rs 15 Lakh Annual Salary

Lovely Professional University B.Tech Computer Science & Engineering student, Shafia Ayub from a small village of Srinagar has been selected as an IT Manager in UAE. Headquartered in Dubai, world renowned Tipi Home Real Estate Company has offered Safia an annual salary of Rs 15 Lakh. Shafia will join her duties in the year 2016 after appearing for her final semester examinations at LPU.

Nobel Laureate for Peace & the great spiritual leader of Tibet, Dalai Lama graced the 5th Convocation of LPU as Chief Guest, which was held at Shanti Devi Mittal Auditorium on Saturday, 14th November 2015.  His Holiness honoured LPU toppers of various academic programs with gold medals. Near 4000 LPU students of Batch 2015 pass outs were also awarded with degrees. On the same day, LPU proudly conferred the Degree of Doctor of Divinity, Honoris Causa, upon His Holiness Dalai Lama for his courageous statesmanship, scientific temperament, and universal benevolence. Prior to this, LPU Tibetan students accorded traditional welcome to the Dalai Lama through emotional “Tashi Shopa” (Mask) dance and folk instruments’ playing.

The Chief Guest at 5th Convocation of Lovely Professional University Right Hon’ble Prime Minister of Lesotho Kingdom Dr Pakalitha Bethuel Mosisili advised 15,000 graduating LPU students to always follow the great teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. PM Mosisili honoured 3 Ph D, 21 gold medalists and 173 toppers of various LPU academic programs of both regular and distance education. LPU also proudly conferred its ‘Honoris Causa’ Degree of Doctor of Letters upon PM Mosisili for his dedication and continuous endeavors to uphold peace and harmony, and in recognition of his outstanding public service and excellent governance. PM Mosisili is considered as one of the top leaders of Africa for putting forth several policies to reduce poverty, build peace and stability.

LPU BBA Student Sheetal Rana won Direct Entry for Miss India Finals in Mumbai

  • Miss Diva Universe 2014 Noyonita Lodh judged Rana as the best LPU Campus Princess among hundreds of participants from different institutions
  • Occasion was five- day global open fest- “YOUTH VIBE- 2015” at LPU
  • International DJ Nucleya & DJ Sick Flip enthralled students on Indian South & Internationally Western melodies
Participating in the biggest annual competitive festival of Lovely Professional University “YOUTH VIBE- 2015”, LPU BBA final year student Sheetal Rana’s joys knew no bounds when she was selected as LPU Campus Princess-2015. Miss Diva Universe 2014 Noyonita Lodh judged Sheetal as the best among hundreds of participants from different institutions. Sheetal has now got direct entry to Miss India Finals to be held in Mumbai. One other participant from GNDU Amritsar, a B.Tech student Smriti Thakur, has also been bracketed as winner along with Sheetal. Both the winners will now fly directly to Mumbai shortly to try for their selection as Miss India to further participate in world competitions. LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal congratulated the winning students and inspired them to keep on working hard to further win the national and international titles too.
