LPU organized Google ‘Startup Weekend’ to promote Entrepreneurship among Students

  • LPU Students teams put forward visionary ideas and developed prototypes

Following USA pattern, the Entrepreneurship Cell of Lovely Professional University organized Google guided ‘Startup Weekend’ at its campus. Remaining amazingly involved, LPU students learnt in just 54 hours how to startup by experiencing highs, lows, and pressure about business model creation and market validation. While learning how to create a real company, students also became sure to get the very best mentors, investors, co-founders, and sponsors on their way to a startup. Google Developers Group Jalandhar, running at LPU campus, also organized its annual Development Fest (DevFest-2015) on this occasion. LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal congratulated organizing team and future entrepreneur-students of LPU for successful outcome of the entrepreneurship promoting event. Mr Mittal assured that university will keep on celebrating the third week of every November as Startup Weekend.

Google Academy Trainer Mr Yasir Jahoor mentored students for Digital marketing. In workshop on Digital Marketing, he guided students about its practical usage, search engine, display, communication, free tools, good or bad marketing strategies, Google fiber and more. Business Development Leader of Startup Oasis Mr Dilniwaj Khan and Co-Founder of Tech Portal Mr Deepanshu Khandelwal guided students how great idea clicks and how to make an awesome pitch during the respective ‘Design Thinking’ workshops they headed.

While analyzing the prototypes of LPU students’ teams, Mr Dilniwaj guided students that one problem can be shared by ten ways, “Find a problem, create a solution, find customers and take your product successfully to the masses. Then, globalize your business understanding completely the value of networking and internet. Do what you love to do.” Mr Khandelwal, who is just 2015 pass out shared: “It is peak time for you to rise further with your startup as you do not have any of the added responsibilities. Focus on national problems. Presently, rural entrepreneurship is available in plenty. Worry about your growth as per your wishes. Every brain has an idea; forget about investors and mentors startup with your idea on basic level.”
