- Selected student Sonam Deki is from Thimphu (Bhutan) and studied B Sc Airlines Tourism & Hospitality Program at LPU
- LPU has one of the only simulation air plane labs in North India to train students
Delighted Sonam shares: “I always wanted to work for a top airline service so I preferred to join B Sc Airlines, Tourism & Hospitality program quite away from my native place. My selection has only been possible due to this joining as LPU trained me as a world class professional for the industry. Like other students, I too was exposed to internationally bench-marked theoretical and intensive practical inputs by experienced faculty. I availed the opportunity as it came my way and now I am happy that my alma mater has turned my golden dreams into a reality.”
Sonam also shared that LPU is the only university in North India which has “simulation aircraft” with business class facilities as an ‘aviation lab’: “This lab helps students to present themselves better than hundreds of other students who compete with students like us during recruitment interviews. I was also on the internship through this simulation lab throughout the year at the campus. I was trained here to greet the guests, make announcements, serve food and beverage, and to handle special passengers & emergency situations to be a perfect Cabin Crew.”
Congratulating Sonam, LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal said: “We feel proud that our students are getting absorbed at coveted posts in different sectors at high pay packages. Such appointments work wonders as these motivate other students also to work hard for bright career ahead. I want to inform students that Airlines, Tourism & Hospitality program at LPU has tremendous potential. The students, who wish to join this sector, will be glad to note that presently total direct employment in this sector is around 20 million.”
LPU program in Airlines and Tourism provides an opportunity for students to develop academic and industry specific skills linked to the commercial aviation industry. Program makes students understand the structure, nature and operating characteristics of the international tourism industry. It examines a range of contemporary issues associated with the travel and tourism industry, such as product ranges, business tourism, tour operators, travel agencies and transportation for tourism.
