LPU awarded with World Education Award 2016 for Innovation in Open and Distance Learning

Lovely Professional University has been conferred with World Education Award 2016 during the recently held 7th World Education Summit at New Delhi. LPU bagged the award in recognition of its efforts in the field of developing high class human resource for Innovation in Open and Distance Learning. During the award ceremony, the keynote address was made by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jharkhand Sh Raghubar Das.

The School of Fashion Design of Lovely Professional University organized five Day Styling Workshop at its campus and the workshop was conducted by the internationally renowned Fashion stylist Anuj Lalwani for the grooming of students and to train them to face the fashion world by perfection. Anuj Lalwani is working as Fashion Designer and Stylist in the Indian Market for last 12 years and he made recognition in Fashion & Retail profession. He is an alumni of National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), New Delhi. He assisted well-know fashion designer & exporter Mr. Roubal Dunglay. He also managed his high-end stores in many cities, which retailed brands of all the top designers from Rohit Bal and Sidharth Tytler to Rohit Gandhi & Rahul Khanna.

“India’s Standing on South China Sea Issue is Positive”: Ambassador of Vietnam

His Excellency Ambassador of Vietnam Ton Sinh Thanh was at Lovely Professional University today for an interaction on the topic of “ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) & India Relations”. Talking about South China Sea, HE Ambassador Thanh shared: “India’s standing on South China Sea Issue is positive. In fact, India and Vietnam share very good relations and they help each other in training and usage of equipments. However, that help is not guided against any other country (clearly talking about China). We and all other 6 parties involved are ready to negotiate on South China Sea issue, but we are waiting for China to respond. China has created its own islands on the sea and as per the reports, China’s claim on the sea is illegal. On this issue, India’s stand that the law of the sea must be respected is positive.”

Hon’ble Union Minister of Finance & Corporate Affairs Arun Jaitley reached Lovely Professional University today and inaugurated Start-Up School at LPU campus. He also inaugurated three-day International Day of Peace amid rich cultural diversity of 30,000 LPU students from 29 Indian States & 50+ countries studying at the campus. Beating the drums (Nagare), Mr Jaitley unveiled the emblem of World Peace, with globe on one side and pigeon, the symbol of peace, on the other side. LPU students presented cultural variety of different Indian states and other nations to uphold the spirit of world peace all around. Before start of the event, two-minute silence was observed to pay homage to brave Indian soldiers martyred early this morning in a terrorist attack in Uri sector of J&K. Launching the Startup School Minister Jaitley & Governor of Punjab VP Singh Badnore rang the first bell of the first of its kind incubation center.

His Excellency Governor of Punjab & Chandigarh Administrator VP Singh Badnore will preside over the celebrative occasion. Many other high-profiled guests will also grace the occasion and address students and staff members of the university along with Hon’ble Union Minister & the Governor.

125th Birth Anniversary of Babasaheb Dr B R Ambedkar commemorated at LPU

Under yearlong state level celebrations for commemorating 125th Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna Babasaheb Dr B R Ambedkar, a detailed program has been chalked out as per the guidance of Hon’ble Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Parkash Singh Badal. In this context, 3rd National Seminar on the topic ‘Dr BR Ambedkar & Media’ was organized at Lovely Professional University to memorialize the ideology of nation’s most inspirational leader. Prominent among who attended the inaugural celebrative session included His Excellency Governor Governor (Himachal Pradesh) Sh Acharya Devrat as Chief Guest; Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment (Govt of India) Sh Vijay Sampla as Guest of Honour; and Punjab Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr Charanjit 
Singh Atwal who presided over the function. 

Workshop for empowering Persons with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities held at LPU


  • Three day regional workshop was for ‘Capacity Building and Leadership Programme’ 
  • Workshop was first of its kind in the North India


Lovely Professional University & association for mentally retarded children’s parents’ group ‘Chaanan’ hosted three-day regional workshop for ‘Capacity Building and Leadership Programme’ at LPU Campus. The workshop was organized by ‘Parivaar’- a National Confederation of Parents’ Organizations (NCPO) for persons with intellectual & developmental disabilities (PwIDDs). 60 professionals & parents associated to persons with such disabilities participated from 8 states of the country. Motive of the workshop was to train the participating delegates (in the age group of 35 to 45) to enhance the activities for helping the society at large. This specially designed workshop was first of its kind in the North India. CBM International, Australia, also supported the event.

Jalandhar Administration & LPU collaborated to observe International ‘Spinal Cord Injury Day’ at LPU Campus

  • One & a half kilo-meter long ‘Spinal Cord Injury Day’ Rally was organized to aware students about precautions to be taken to prevent such injuries
  • Eminent guests of the day were Deputy Commissioner, Police Commissioner, Assistant Police Commissioner of Jalandhar

Aiming to encourage spinal cord injured persons lead an inclusive life, the Jalandhar Administration & Lovely Professional University joined hands to observe ‘International SCI Day’ at LPU Campus. More than 150 SCI affected persons, their family members and LPU students participated in the event. On this occasion, one & a half kilo-meter long ‘Spinal Cord Injury Day’ rally was also organized on the campus roads to aware about those injuries which shatter lives of injured ones. It was also to awaken people how they can come forward to assist such affected ones. This year LPU has enrolled 20 SCI affected students by providing them 100% scholarship. On this occasion, all of them sang morale boosting songs of inspiration “Itni shakti humen dena data” & “Give me some shine” from the movie ‘Three Idiots’, which brought tears from in the eyes of on-looking people.

In order to keep students moving in right direction, Lovely Professional University organized motivating event “The Challenge of Change”, where internationally distinguished young achievers & motivational speakers inspired LPU Students. Visiting inspirers included Ethical Hacker, Vice President at Lucideus Rahul Tyagi (an LPU alumnus); Hollywood trained actor, director, dancer Varun Paruthi; and, comedian Jaspreet Singh.  Conducted by students’ organization ‘Wings of Hope’, the event proved to provide entrepreneurship aspiring environment to the students. LPU Director General Er HR Singla welcomed the elite guests at densely packed Shanti Devi Mittal auditorium of the university.

LPU Student won Free Entry to Spain’s World Famous ‘Tomatina Festival’

One of the students of Lovely Professional University, Kamal Preet Saroye, has won ‘Free Entry’ to world famous ‘Tomatina Festival’ to be held in Spain on 31st August 2016. LPU student emerged as a winner of all-paid festival trip under “Back to Campus” competitive campaign, which was organized by Vodafone India. The month long campaign covered 400+ leading colleges across top 50 cities of the country, where students participated through campus engagements and via social media. The highlight was the opportunity to win free trip to Tomatina Festival. LPU Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal congratulated the winner-student and advised him to keep up such a buoyant and winning spirit.

Fifth Play ‘Maut Di Teesi’ enacted at LPU advised Youth never to Give Up


  • The play was staged by the artists of Roopak Kala Manch ( Mohali)


On the fifth day of six-day theatre festival “Natya Mahotsav” being held at Lovely Professional University, the artists of Roopak Kala Manch ( Mohali) enacted Punjabi play “ Maut Di Teesi”. The play sent a great message to the youth to be ever willing to try things and never give up too soon. The play has been translated from Konkani into Punjabi by Dr Atamjit and directed by Sangeeta Gupta. 
The play is about the loneliness and disillusionment experienced by a young man who gets routed in his professional and personal life. Eventually, he tries to find a solution to commit suicide, an easy seeming process that seems to be plaguing the entire young generation. Director Gupta shared: "Our message is that there are no shortcuts. One has to work hard, be committed, and to nurture desire slowly but surely."

Six-Day Theatre Festival commenced at LPU

  • National level theatre groups from different states & cities are participating with six prominent plays

Today, Vibha Rani written and Ravi Mohan directed inaugural play ‘Dusra Aadmi, Dusri Aurat’ was enacted by the artists of Raas Kala Manch (Haryana). Exhibiting the contemporary period, the play was staged to a packed audience at Shanti Devi Mittal auditorium, where LPU students of Performing Arts department are especially learning diverse theatrical skills from the national artists of different groups.

Situational comedy ‘Udhara Pati’ sent LPU Students into Roars of Laughter


  • Occasion was the wrapping up of six-day theatre festival ‘Natya Mahotsav’
  • Festival was organized in alliance with theatre’s pupil association ‘Bohemians’


The last day of six-day theatre festival “Natya Mahotsav” at Lovely Professional University witnessed the staging of situational Punjabi comedy play “Udhara Pati”.  Presented by Saarthak Rang Manch, Patiala, the play was directed by Dr Lakha Lehiri. Staged as a situational comedy, the play laid stress on the importance of “truth” and as an ethical set of laws for life. The Punjabi adaptation of the play is from original Mararthi play “Usna Navra”. It showcased the middle class situation existing in the region.
