Lovely Professional University & Society for Automotive Engineering-Northern India Section (SAENIS) hosted 7th season of green mobility competitive national event Efficycle-2016 was concluded today at LPU campus. Team ‘Incredibles’ of KIET Group of Institutions Ghaziabad is declared overall winner of the competition; whereas, teams from College of Engineering Pune & Government College of Technology Coimbatore are declared 2nd & 3rd Winner respectively. Cash prizes of Rs One lakh, Rs 75,000 & Rs 50,000 were awarded to these top three winners out of participating 105 teams. In all cash prizes worth Rs 7 Lakh and certificates were distributed to winning teams in different categories of the competitions. Of these, 15 winning teams or individuals were awarded with cash prizes from Rs 10,000 to Rs 30,000 each for the Best Design, Innovation, Marketing Presentation, Acceleration, Utility, Gradient, Maneuverability, Durability, Slogan, Light Vehicle, Built up Quality, Faculty Adviser and the Best Girl participant.
The event was supported by Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL), Indian Oil Corporation and ICAT. Executive Adviser MSIL Mr I V Rao was the Chief Guest of the occasion Sr Vice President (R&D) MSIL Dr Tapan Sahoo, Ex Director & Member Governing Body SAE India Mr Balraj Bhanot, GM ICAT Mr UD Bangale and DGM (R&D) MSIL Mr Jitendra Malhotra were Guests of Honour.
‘Effi-Cycle’, derived from Efficient-Cycle, provides students an opportunity to conceive, design and fabricate a three-wheel configured vehicle powered by human-electric hybrid power. It is capable of seating two passengers catering to the day to day mobility needs. The ergonomically designed vehicle is aerodynamic, which is engineered for performance & safety. The objective is to promote innovation and to generate consciousness towards environment friendly mobility solution.
Conveying best wishes to the winning teams, Mr Rao said: “For me you all are winners, work done is good whereas the participation is indeed great. The great battle for green mobility organized at LPU in collaboration with SAENIS has exhibited new excitement & challenges as never before. I am enthralled to note the great efforts of young engineering students in accomplishing the targeted work for a ‘Greener tomorrow’. I truly appreciate the deep commitment and enthusiasm of each student for making the Efficycle-2016 a memorable & highly competitive event.”
